After obtaining the UEFA European Championship trophy, the record-setting soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo spoils himself with another prize, the gorgeous Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. The highest paid athlete in the world has splashed out about $1.7 million on a black Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport. The three-time FIFA Ballon d’or winner already boasts a flashy collection of toys: a McLaren MP4-12 Spyder, Ferrari 599 GTO, Rolls-Royce Phantom Porsche 911 Turbo S, Maserati GranCabrio and a Lamborghini Aventador.
Cristiano Ronaldo took to Instagram to share two pictures of his newest acquisition with the caption “The animal arrive”. Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport, a convertible version of the Veyron 16.4 to be precise, is a beast indeed. The powerful car was premiered in summer 2006 in Pebble Beach, California, where the first model was auctioned for over three million US dollars. It combines the innovative performance specs of the Veyron coupé with the alluring form of a roadster. Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport features the transparent roof to let drivers experience their surroundings, even when the roof is up.
The car is powered by a 1,200 hp, quad-turbocharged 16-cylinder engine that sets it into motion from zero to 62 mph in 2.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 255 mph. The Veyron 16.4 and its variants were discontinued last year after the crown of the highest-powered production vehicle ever created was given to the 1,500 hp Bugatti Chiron.
